Tournament Waiver

———

The following waiver applies to all tournaments held by Katana BJJ. Each participant (or their legal guardian) must read through and accept it in its totality prior to registration in each tournament.

———

I hereby assume full responsibility and liability for all damages, injuries and losses that I may sustain or incur while participating in or watching the tournament.

I realize that serious injury is commonplace in martial arts tournaments such as the one I am hereby entering, and that even death is a very real possibility. I also realize that I may be injured, disfigured, disabled and/or rendered unable to work again due to an opponent’s actions, the action or inaction of a referee, the condition of the mats used, the conduct of a non-participant, or some other reason.

By entering into this agreement I accept the risk of entering and being present at the tournament and give up and waive all claims I or anyone acting on my behalf or through me might have against Katana BJJ, the organizers, promoters, operators, sponsors, officials, participants, non-participants, and their agents, employees and representatives for any injury regardless of its nature, effect or affect on me as a result of my participation and/or presence at the tournament.

I authorize, and agree to hold harmless, whatever medical personnel that may be present at the tournament to take any action necessary, should I become injured.

Furthermore, if the competitor is a minor, I hereby certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the above named minor; that I have read and understood every provision of this release; and that I am legally competent and freely enter into this waiver, release and assumption of risk agreement on behalf of the minor and myself.

Katana BJJ and its organizers hereby expressly reserve the right to change, modify or otherwise edit information contained upon the competitor’s registration form, including but not limited to: the competitor’s academy’s name and affiliation and/or the competitor’s name and/or nickname.

Katana BJJ likewise expressly reserves the right to add or remove a competitor from the open weight division for any reason whatsoever with or without cause. The head coach of an academy’s competition team shall be granted the right to change a competitor’s registration information up until one (1) day prior to the deadline for registration. Such changes are limited to: competitor’s name/nickname, academy affiliation and those members of the academy that will be competing in the open weight division. Absolutely no changes, regardless of the reason requested therefore shall be permitted beyond the time period stated in this paragraph.
